Presented in partnership with the Association of Kannada Kootas of America, the first-ever AKKA – CineGannada Film Festival brings Karnataka’s finest storytellers to the global stage. Held during AKKA’s historic Silver Jubilee year, the festival honors cinematic excellence, celebrates bold storytelling, and connects Kannada cinema with audiences across continents.
10 selected Kannada films screened at the AKKA World Conference in Philadelphia — reaching audiences across North America and beyond.
₹2 Lakh grand prize, plus second and third film awards — judged by an elite panel of filmmakers, journalists, and cinema veterans.

The AKKA – CineGannada Film Festival 2026 is the first-ever Kannada film festival hosted on American soil — a landmark moment for Karnataka’s cinema.
Born from a historic collaboration between AKKA and Karnataka’s leading filmmakers, the festival bridges two continents through the power of storytelling. An elite Main Jury of three national award-winning filmmakers evaluates every selection, while an 10-member Preview Committee ensures only the finest Kannada films reach the global stage. The grand ceremony on September 5, 2026 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center brings together celebrities, filmmakers, and audiences for three hours of world-class entertainment.

A Historic Milestone
This year’s celebration introduces an expanded array of events designed to engage every segment of the community — a grand Meravanige (Procession), prestigious Business and Medical Forums (CME/CDE), a dedicated Youth Forum, diverse competitions in cricket and golf, a vibrant literary forum, and high-caliber entertainment. For the first time in AKKA’s history, the Silver Jubilee also hosts the AKKA – CineGannada Film Festival, bringing Karnataka’s finest cinema to an international audience. The landmark gathering at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia promises to be the biggest and most diverse AKKA event ever held. Supported by the Kannada and Culture Department (Kannada Samskriti Ilakhe) under the Government of Karnataka, the Silver Jubilee sets a bold vision for the future of Kannada arts, culture, and global collaboration.

Karnataka’s celebrated actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty proudly leads the Silver Jubilee celebrations as AKKA’s 2026 Brand Ambassador — bringing national spotlight to AKKA’s mission of connecting Kannadigas worldwide.
Known for redefining Kannada cinema with blockbuster films and bold storytelling, Rishab Shetty represents the new generation of Karnataka’s creative force. From his directorial breakthrough with Kirik Party to the pan-India phenomenon Kantara — which became the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time and earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor — Shetty has proven that stories rooted in Karnataka’s culture, folklore, and spirituality can captivate audiences across languages and borders. His association with AKKA’s Silver Jubilee reinforces the connection between Karnataka’s thriving film industry and its global diaspora.
